GAZA, Feb. 01 (YPA) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned on Friday of the disastrous consequences for displaced Palestinians if the Israeli occupation stops its work in the occupied Palestinian territories.
UNRWA Director of Communications, Liette Touma, explained that the agency is committed to continuing to provide essential and vital services in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Gaza, the West Bank, and East Quds (Jerusalem).
She pointed out that implementing the two Israeli Knesset laws, which seek to prevent the agency from providing its services, will have dire consequences for Palestinian refugees.
Touma confirmed that the agency has not yet received any official notification regarding the implementation of the two laws, adding that the expiration of the visas of international employees two days ago forced them to leave the Palestinian territories.
She pointed out that UNRWA lost more than 270 employees in Gaza, and two-thirds of its facilities were bombed during the war, while about 20 employees are still in detention centers.
It is noteworthy that the Knesset recently passed two laws aimed at stopping UNRWA’s work in the occupied territories and prohibiting the Zionist entity from communicating with it.
