UN: “Israel” violates international law by killing civilians returning to southern Lebanon

LEBANON, Jan. 28 (YPA) – The United Nations considered on Tuesday that Israel’s use of deadly force against civilians trying to return to their villages and homes in southern Lebanon is a violation of international law.

The international organization called for the conversion of the ceasefire between Lebanon and “Israel” into “a permanent and stable peace.”

In a series of posts on the account of the Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa, affiliated with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, on the “X” platform, it stated that it is concerned about reports indicating that at least 24 people have been killed and more than 100 others injured in recent days while trying to return to their homes.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights explained that Israel’s use of deadly power against civilians trying to return to their areas is a clear violation of international law.

It stressed that it is necessary to ensure that civilians return to their villages within voluntary conditions that take into account dignity and safety, noting that the ultimate goal must be a permanent and sustainable peace that guarantees stability in the region.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported in a statement on Monday that two people were killed and 17 others were injured, including a child and a paramedic, as a result of Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon.

Last Sunday’s statistics had previously recorded 24 dead and 134 wounded, including women and children.
