Interior Ministry declares defeating “ISIS” elements in Bayda’s Hanka area

SANAA, Jan. 15 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday its security campaign in the Hankat Al Masoud area in the Al Qurishiyah district of Bayda province had succeeded in purifying the area that the criminal ISIS elements gathered.

The Ministry said in a statement that dozens of criminal ISIS elements were arrested and others were killed during the campaign. It pointed out that some criminal ISIS elements blew themselves up during the raid on their hideouts.

The statement affirmed that the security campaign came after the criminal elements had refused to surrender themselves to the law or any tribal mediation from the region’s notables during their repeated attacks on the property of some citizens by throwing hand grenades at their homes and farms, as well as shooting at their homes late at night, and attacking on the region-affiliated health unit.

The criminal elements also launched attacks on a security personnel patrol and a checkpoint while they were performing their duties, starting with attacking a Central Security patrol, killing some individuals and injuring two others, as well as burning police car.

The ministry’s statement also confirmed that the activation of these elements at this time came within the framework of the American-Israeli plan to target the internal front, and an attempt to dissuade Yemen from its honorable position in support of the Palestinian people in Gaza.

It appreciated the cooperation, vigilance and awareness of all people of Bayda province and its districts in thwart all conspiratorial and sabotage plans and plots that target the internal front.
