HADRAMOUT, Jan. 12 (YPA) – Armed elements loyal to the UAE kidnapped a number of fishermen on Sunday during a protest against the confiscation of their livelihood in Mukalla city of Hadramout province in eastern Yemen.
Local sources stated that the fishermen protest came against the backdrop of preventing them from hunting for the ninth year in a row.
The sources explained that the UAE-backed forces suppressed the protesting fishermen, who raised banners denouncing the confiscation of their only livelihood source, and took some to the “Ghail Bawazir” police station.
This comes after UAE forces detained six fishermen for breaking the fishing ban in the Arabian Sea last November and took them to the notorious Al-Rayyan prison.
