SANAA, Jan. 09 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based Foreign Minister, Jamal Amer, affirmed on Wednesday Sanaa’s rejection of linking the peace process in Yemen to any other regional file.
This came during his meeting with the UN envoy, Hans Grundberg, to discuss the roadmap announced by the UN envoy on December 23, 2023, and the correct path to build a just and equitable peace for the Yemeni people.
Mr. Amer confirmed Sanaa’s readiness to sign the roadmap with Saudi Arabia as the main party in the war.
He explained that the strategic option for peace did not mean standing idly by in the face of escalating steps taken by other parties, noting that Sanaa’s will to establish relations with neighboring countries based on the foundations of mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs.
The minister called on the United Nations to deliver a message of optimism to the Yemeni people with practical steps that would lead to peace in Yemen.
The minister Amer also called on the UN envoy to assume his humanitarian and legal responsibility towards the Yemeni citizen who is exposed to many financial, psychological and living pressures and burdens as a result of the unilateral decisions taken and practiced by other parties, which may establish the basis for separation and division of the country.
He urged Grundberg to issue circulators to all Yemeni embassies and consulates abroad to deal with documents and certificates issued from the northern provinces that were certified by the consular departments in Sanaa.
In turn, the UN official affirmed that the United Nations and the Office in Sanaa would be committed to their role in making good efforts between the Yemeni parties to end the state of war and division, in a way that benefits the Yemeni citizen and meets his aspirations.
