Handicap fund calls for highlighting capabilities, creativity of people with disabilities

SANAA, Jan. 07 (YPA) -The Disability Care And Rehabilitation Fund in Sanaa has called for enhancing the ethical values by focusing on issues concerning people with disabilities and highlighting their exceptional abilities and creativity that deserve recognition.

In a statement, the fund  emphasized the crucial role of local media in showcasing the talents of disabled individuals, stressing the need to present them as inspiring models through positive portrayals that reflect their humanity and creative energy.

It pointed out that this helps change society’s stereotypical image of them and enhances their human dignity.

The statement also called for avoiding any form of insult or mockery towards people with disabilities and refraining from using their disabilities as a source of ridicule in any manner.

It stressed the importance of enabling them to express themselves in ways that respect their humanity, spotlighting their excellence and achievements in various fields.

The statement clarified that the treatment of disability issues should be conscious and fair, contributing to raising awareness of the challenges they face and working on finding real solutions to them.

It mentioned that media and art are vital tools in shaping societal awareness and values, promoting the integration of people with disabilities as active and creative members of society.
