Meteorology renews its warnings of cold wave sweeping Yemen

SANAA, Jan. 04 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology warned on Saturday of a cold wave sweeping different areas of the provinces of Yemen.

In its weather bulletin, the center affirmed that the cold wave may target the provinces of Bayda, Dhamar, Sanaa, Amran, Saada and the highlands of Dhalea, Lahj, Marib and Jawf, in addition to Ibb, Abyan, Hadramout, Mahra, Hajjah, Mahweet, Rayma, Taiz and, desert areas.

It pointed out that the atmosphere of the coastal areas would be partly cloudy to cloudy on the Socotra Archipelago and the southern coasts, and clear to partly cloudy on the western coasts, with the moderate to active winds on the Socotra Archipelago, the eastern coasts and the entrance to Bab al-Mandab.

The center issued warnings to citizens in the highlands, interior plateaus and deserts of the cold and very cold weather during the night and early morning hours.

It warned also farmers of the effects of the severe cold on crops, calling for taking the necessary measures to protect them, as well as livestock herders, beekeepers and poultry farmers to preserve them.
