UAE builds watchtowers on Yemen’s Socotra Island

SOCOTRA, Dec. 30 (YPA) – The UAE forces have established high-altitude watchtowers for air and sea surveillance on the Yemeni island of Socotra, located east of the Gulf of Aden.

According to media sources, the “Khalifa Foundation,” the UAE intelligence arm in Socotra, is overseeing the construction of the modern radar-equipped watchtowers without permission from the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, causing concerns among the island residents.

The sources explained that the UAE is planning to ban the areas where the towers have been built and prevent citizens from entering via the line linking the Hawlaf, Arrin, and Delisha areas.

The UAE continues to implement many suspicious projects through the “Al-Muthallath Company” near Hawf port, Hawari Mount, and the radar battalion headquarters.
