ISLAMABAD, Dec. 26 (YPA) – Members of the Qatari royal family survived an assassination attempt after a bomb exploded targeting their convoy in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province.
The Tribune, an English-language daily newspaper based in Pakistan, said the attack led to killing two Pakistani security forces soldiers and wounding four others.
The newspaper revealed that the attack took place on Wednesday as the convoy carrying members of the Qatari royal family while they were moving out of the city of Turbat, 110 kilometers (70 miles) from the Iranian border.
“Two paramilitary Frontier Corps soldiers were killed in the blast,” said Abdul Hamid, a senior local administration official, adding that four other members were injured.
A second local administration official, who asked not to be identified, revealed details of the attack, saying “an extra security force” had been provided to members of the Qatari royal family after the blast.
Local officials confirmed that “the visitors remained safe during the attack.”
