Iraq: PMF launches security operation in Salah al-Din governorate

BAGHDAD, Dec. 18 (YPA) – Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces announced on  Wednesday launching a security operation in the Makhoul Mountains, in Salah al-Din Governorate.

In a statement, the PMF Authority stated that “the operation included searching areas along the Tigris River and the Makhoul Mountains. The operation involved forces from the 51st and 31st brigades of the PMF, along with units from the Salah al-Din Operations Command. During the operation, the force discovered and completely destroyed two ISIS hideouts.”

It added that “the operation aims to secure and search areas within the responsibility sector, enhance security and stability, and pursue remnants of ISIS terrorist cells.”
