WORLD, Dec. 16 (YPA) – The General Secretariat of the Arab League strongly condemned Israel’s ongoing hostile actions in the occupied territories of Golan, the latest of which was the Israeli government’s approval to expand settlements in the occupied Golan to accommodate more settlers and double their numbers.
Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and Head of the Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector, Ambassador Saeed Abu Ali, stressed in a statement that Israel’s announcement of expanding settlements in the occupied Syrian Golan is a further entrenchment of the occupation, a violation of international laws and resolutions, and a threat to regional stability.
The Assistant Secretary-General emphasized that the Arab League condemns Israeli aggression in the occupied Syrian Golan and reaffirms the Golan’s Arab identity and Syria’s sovereignty over it. According to international law, all Israeli actions to change the Golan’s legal status are invalid and a clear violation of international law and the Geneva Conventions.
The statement urged the international community to exert pressure on the Israeli regime to immediately cease its aggressive actions and comply with international resolutions.
