OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Dec. 15 (YPA) – Israeli Channel 12 reported that “Israel” estimates a possible deal regarding the prisoners held in Gaza could be reached next month, as thousands of Israelis have demonstrated demanding the swift conclusion of a prisoner exchange deal with the resistance movement in Gaza.
The channel added that Israeli officials are handling the negotiations with caution, fully aware that they could collapse at any moment.
Sources close to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated that he is more determined than ever to reach an agreement, with the main disagreements revolving around the number of prisoners to be released in the deal.
In addition, Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted a senior Israeli official stating that significant progress has been made in the ongoing negotiations for a deal.
The official confirmed that the agreement would result in the return of an unspecified number of prisoners, not all of them.
The newspaper also noted that the heads of the Mossad and Shin Bet security services had informed the Cabinet that Hamas and the resistance are willing to reach an agreement.
The occupation Defense Minister Yoav Gallant also mentioned that there is a real opportunity to finalize a deal for the release of the detainees in Gaza.
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan also told Israeli Channel 13 that progress has been made toward a prisoner exchange deal for those held in Gaza, and it is close to being finalized.
