ABYAN, Dec. 12 (YPA) – One of the members of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions was killed on Thursday, in an armed attack in the eastern part of Abyan province, southern Yemen.
Local sources in the province reported that “terrorist elements” launched an attack on one of the STC’s positions in the Omran Valley in the Mudiyah District, resulting in the death of one member, though his identity was not disclosed.
The sources added that the factions were able to repel the attack, inflicting heavy losses on the terrorist elements.
Since taking control of the Islah party’s camps during the “Eastern Swords” operation in August 2022, the UAE-backed factions have faced periodic attacks, including those involving improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and direct assaults.
Hundreds of STC members have been killed or wounded, including leaders, and dozens of military vehicles have been destroyed in Mudiyah.
