UAE receives first threat to shoot down its planes in Socotra

SOCOTRA, Dec. 11 (YPA) – A number of citizens in the Yemeni Socotra Archipelago, located east of the Gulf of Aden, have pledged to shoot down Emirati planes constantly flying over the island.

Activists from the archipelago confirmed in their posts on social media that the Bedouin citizens who live in the Socotra desert, relying on themselves, have not been spared from the UAE’s tampering and violations.

They explained that the Emirati helicopters constantly flying over their valley are working to terrorize women, children, and the herd of sheep and cows in the valley.

Bedouin citizens vowed to use traditional weapons to down helicopters to ensure family security and protect their herds, as it was their legitimate right.

Activists stated that the people of Socotra are burdened by the high cost of living due to Emirati companies’ monopoly on basic commodities, in addition to the import of foreign workers from Egypt, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.
