German University cancels lecture by Zionist historian due to student protest

SANAA, Dec. 08 (YPA) – The University of Leipzig in Germany has canceled a planned lecture by Zionist historian Benny Morris after students protested against the lecture.

In a statement, the university said that students objected to Morris’s lecture because of recent interviews he made, and students described them as offensive and racist.

The lecture, titled “The 1948 War and Jihad,” was scheduled to take place next week at the theology college as part of a series on anti-semitism, while university officials said the event was planned as an opportunity for critical discussion with Morris.

However, the university ultimately canceled the lecture after complaints from students and what it called security concerns.

Students opposed to the lecture accused Zionist historian Morris of being “someone who justifies the expulsion, murder and rape of hundreds of thousands of people.”
