Norwegian Foreign Minister: Netanyahu’s government is leading Israel towards a “very dangerous turning point”

OSLO, Sept. 11 (YPA) – Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said that Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is leading Israel towards a very dangerous turning point, describing it as “the most right-wing and extreme in Israel’s history.”

In remarks to Euronews on Friday, Eide pointed to the decision by 12 countries, including Norway, Britain, France, and Canada, to ban trade with Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, considering it a powerful message.

He added that he was pleased that countries like Britain, France, and Canada had joined a position long held by Spain and Norway, criticizing the West’s “vague and wavering” stances on the Middle East, which have weakened its credibility, and stressing the need not to ignore the suffering of the Palestinians.

He confirmed that the Israeli elections are approaching, but he believes the current government’s course is dangerous.
