ADEN, Dec. 07 (YPA) – The UAE dealt a heavy blow to Rashad Al-Alimi, the head of the “Presidential Leadership Council” loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, after he spent several days in the capital, Abu Dhabi.
Political sources reported that Al-Alimi left the UAE heading to the Saudi capital, Riyadh, without holding a meeting with the UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed, despite staying in Abu Dhabi since last Friday.
The sources added that although Al-Alimi and several members of his council participated in the celebrations of UAE’s National Day, he did not receive a proper reception and was seen off in a weak manner by the UAE Minister of Justice.
The sources attributed the UAE’s disdain toward Al-Alimi to the sharp differences with his deputy, ” Aidarus al-Zoubaidi, the head of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), Abu Dhabi’s arm in southern Yemen, with whom he has been in a complete break for over a year.
This comes after Riyadh-based Yemen’s news agency Saba reported last Friday that Al-Alimi would hold talks with President Mohammed bin Zayed about the latest developments in the situation.
