ABYAN, Dec. 02 (YPA) – A citizen was killed and another was injured in an armed attack on a shop belonging to a resident from Taiz province in Khanfar District of Abyan province, which is under the control of the Saudi-led coalition factions in southern Yemen.
Human rights sources reported that a gunman, believed to be from the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council’s factions, fired live bullets at Abdul Qawi Al-Zariqi’s commercial stores in Khanfar center, resulting in the death of one worker and serious injury to another, without providing a reason for the incident.
The gunman escaped to an unknown location, prompting merchant Al-Zariqi to call on local authorities in Abyan to arrest the perpetrator and protect his property from blackmail by “thugs.”
The attack comes as an extension of the security chaos witnessed in Abyan and the rest of the southern provinces under the coalition’s factions due to the absence of the state since the beginning of 2016.
