BAGHDAD, Nov. 30 (YPA) – Iraq’s government has deployed nearly 10,000 soldiers on the border with Syria.
Iraqi media outlets revealed on Saturday that Iraqi army deployed 5 armed brigades on the border with Syria, including 2 brigades from the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), counting between 6 and 10 thousand soldiers.
For his part, Mohammed Abdul Wahab Sakr, the commander of the Iraqi border forces, affirmed that the mutual border with Syria is completely secure, pointing out that a series of important fortifications have been completed in those areas, which are reinforced by units of the Iraqi army and the PMF.
The deployment of Iraqi army forces on the border with Syria coincides with the fast developments that the city of Aleppo, northwest of Syria, are witnessed, following the control of parts of the city by the terrorist organization Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra).
