SOCOTRA, Nov. 30 (YPA) – The UAE has recruited new factions in the Yemeni Socotra Archipelago province, east of the Gulf of Aden, local informed sources said on Friday.
The sources reported that the UAE celebrated yesterday, Thursday, the graduation of a new batch of recruits after two months of training inside one of the newly established camps near Hadibo Airport, the center of the province.
New factions from Dhalea and Lahj provinces have been recruited to combat riots and suppress local demonstrations on Socotra Island due to escalating anger over Emirati violations, according to the sources.
The recruitment was prompted by widespread discontent among the people of Socotra due to the arrival of military experts from the Zionist entity and Emirati officers on the island during the past months.
The joint Emirati-Israeli military activities on Abd al-Kuri Island continue after the completion of the aircraft runway at the military base established in 2020.
This occurs amid the silence of the “Presidential Leadership Council” and government affiliated with the Saudi-led coalition that claims legitimacy over these areas.
