UN: Israel blocks access of our teams to the trapped in northern Gaza Strip

WORLD, Nov. 27 (YPA) – The Deputy Spokesperson for the United Nations, confirmed that the UN has made 41 attempts this month to reach citizens trapped in areas in northern Gaza with life-saving aid, but the Israeli occupation authorities have blocked all these attempts.

“Our colleagues in the Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs report that none of the UN’s 41 attempts to reach Palestinians in besieged areas of North Gaza with life-saving assistance this month has been facilitated by Israeli authorities,” deputy spokesman Farhan Haq said at a news conference.

Farhan Haq said Israeli authorities had rejected 37 of these humanitarian missions, and the four approved missions had been hampered on the ground and had achieved only part of their tasks.

He noted that parts of northern Gaza were under siege for more than 50 days now, with the population enduring intensive bombardment and in urgent need of assistance.

Haq clarified that families who fled from northern Gaza in search of safety and shelter in Gaza City are also facing severe shortages in supplies and services, in addition to overcrowding and poor sanitary conditions.

For its part, The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stressed that international humanitarian law requires the protection of civilians and ensuring that their essential survival needs are met, whether they remain in place or flee.
