Shura Council calls for supporting HCRF’s programs

SANAA, Nov. 26 (YPA) – The Shura Council held its session on Tuesday, chaired by the Council’s Chairman Mohammed Hussein Al-Aidaroos, to discuss the rights of persons with disabilities and the role of relevant institutions, particularly the Handicap Care and Rehabilitation Fund (HCRF).

The Council’s chairman emphasized the need to enable the Fund to continue its work despite challenges, urging the necessity to improve its resources and administrative and financial capabilities.

The session reviewed the Human Rights and Public Freedoms Committee’s report and the importance of the Fund’s role in providing services and care.

The report indicated progress in construction and automation, but it needed clear support from relevant authorities to develop its institutional structure and implement its programs efficiently.

The meeting recommended increasing the fund’s sources of support, completing institutional building and automation projects, implementing the national strategy for persons with disabilities in cooperation with all government sectors and donor agencies, and economically empowering persons with disabilities through joint programs and projects with the Zakat and Endowments Authority.
