LAHJ, Nov. 03 (YPA) – The Electricity Corporation in Lahj Governorate announced a temporary shutdown of Abbas and Bir Nasser power generation stations to preserve the remaining fuel in the tanks of the Al-Ahram and Al-Alayan stations.
The corporation explained that the shutdown of the stations was necessary to ensure the functioning of the Al-Ahram and Al-Alayan stations, which depend on purchased energy. It noted that this decision, made on Saturday, is part of efforts to stabilize electricity supply during the ongoing fuel crisis.
Additionally, power generation stations in Abyan Governorate have seen a significant rise in power outages, now experiencing four and a half hours of downtime compared to just one and a half hours of operational time.
This increase in outages is attributed to the fuel crisis affecting the stations in Abyan, which are now receiving only one truck of fuel per day instead of the usual two, as reported by the Electricity Corporation.
This situation comes amid the economic collapse faced by the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, which has been unable to purchase fuel for the power stations as the price of the US dollar approaches 2060 riyals.
