Transport Syndicate Hadramout declares inclusive strike

HADRAMOUT, Nov. 01 (YPA) – The Public Transport Syndicate in Hadramout announced on Thursday a comprehensive strike to start in the province.

The Syndicate said in a statement the strike came in protest against the failure to implement decisions related to improving the conditions of drivers, most notably providing subsidized fuel.

The statement explained this step came also as a result of the increasing discontent of drivers and citizens alike due to the continued crisis of rising fuel prices, and the stifling living pressures it causes.

It had demanded that the coalition- affiliated local authorities to pump diesel at the previous price of 1,200 riyals per liter as a temporary solution.

The union’s statement warned of taking escalatory measures if the authorities do not respond to the drivers’ fair demands to provide subsidized diesel.
