Early Warning Center issues urgent warning to residents in Sanaa, 20 governorates

SANAA, Oct. 25 (YPA) – Several areas in the capital, Sana’a, and its outskirts witnessed scattered rain on Friday afternoon, accompanied by overcast skies covering Yemen, indicating a rainy day for most regions of the country.

Regarding the anticipated weather changes in Yemen over the next 24 hours, the National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning forecasted partly to mostly cloudy conditions, along with thunderstorms of varying intensity in regions of the governorates of Saada, Hajjah, Al-Mahwit, and Dhamar.

The center also predicted scattered thunderstorms of differing intensities in regions of the governorates of Amran, Sanaa, Raymah, Ibb, Taiz, Al-Dhale, Lahij, and the highlands of Abyan and Shabwa, along with the possibility of fog formation.

It indicated that the coastal areas are likely to see partly to mostly cloudy conditions, with thunderstorms of different intensities occurring in sections of the Tihama plain, along the southern and western coasts, as well as on the coasts of Al-Mahrah and Hadramout, including parts of the Socotra Archipelago.

The center stated that the desert regions are expected to have mostly clear to partly cloudy skies, with scattered rain in areas of the deserts of Al-Jawf, Marib, Shabwa, Hadramout, and Al-Mahrah. Moderate winds may occasionally stir up dust and sand.

The center renewed its warnings to citizens in areas where rain is expected to avoid staying in riverbeds and flood paths during and after the rainfall.

It also cautioned about thunderstorms in those governorates.

The center recommended that drivers exercise caution due to decreased visibility on roads and mountain slopes caused by thick low clouds and fog.
