US police arrest pro-Palestinian protesters at University of Minnesota

WORLD, Oct. 22 (YPA) – US police arrested 11 pro-Palestinian protesters who were present in the University of Minnesota administration building, according to the American media reported

CBS News stated that the arrests occurred after University officials issued an emergency alert on Monday afternoon, indicating that protesters had stormed the Morrill Hall in Minneapolis.

The building, located on the East Bank campus, houses the university’s administrative headquarters.

The alert noted that the protesters “caused damage to property and restricted entry and exit from the building,” advising people inside to “exit the building safely” as soon as possible, if possible.

The protest on Monday was organized by a group of students from the University of Minnesota advocating for a democratic society, urging the university to withdraw its investments from companies that support Israel.

This request was turned down by the university’s Board of Regents in August, after several weeks of pro-Palestinian demonstrations on campus.
