BAGHDAD, Oct. 13 (YPA) – Iraq’s Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, confirmed on Sunday his country’s rejection of its territory being used to target neighboring countries, amid anticipation of an Israeli attack on Iran.
This came during a press conference with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, as part of an official visit to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
He pointed out that “the preparation to target specific sites in Iran by the Zionist entity is a dangerous matter.”
“The decision of war and peace is subject to the Iraqi state, and the outbreak of war in the region threatens international civil peace,” Araghchi said.
He warned that “the outbreak of war could lead to an energy crisis and threaten navigation.”
For his part, Araghchi noted that “there is a possibility of escalation in the region, caused by the Zionist entity.”
“We are consulting with friends to stop the Zionist aggression on Lebanon and the Gaza Strip,” he added, stressing the need to “stop the aggression.”
Araghchi called on the international community to “pay attention to the displaced in Lebanon and Gaza.”
