BEIRUT, Sept. 28 (YPA) – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on Friday condemned the escalation of airstrikes on Lebanon this week, which led to the killing of children at a terrifying rate.
The UN agency’s representative in Lebanon, Edouard Beigbeder, said in a statement that “attacks on Lebanon are killing and wounding children at a frightening rate,” according to Agence France-Presse.

Since Monday, the Israeli enemy has intensified its strikes on Hezbollah in various areas of Lebanon, which prompted responses from the party.
The raids, which the Israeli army says are targeting Hezbollah sites, on Monday alone killed 558 people, most of them civilians, including 50 children, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
UNICEF explained that “the daily average number of children killed in Lebanon this week is more than double the number of children killed daily during the devastating 2006 conflict.”
“The situation in Lebanon, which was already teetering on the brink, has moved from crisis to catastrophe,” Beigbeder said, stressing that “the suffering of children must stop.”
