BEIRUT, Sept. 27 (YPA) -The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced the martyrdom of 88 people and the injury of 153 others in brutal Israeli attacks across the country during the past 24 hours.
This brings the number of martyrs to more than 700 and the wounded to more than 2,600, most of them children and women, the ministry added.
Israeli occupation warplanes carried out dozens of consecutive airstrikes on southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley.
The raids also targeted the city of Baalbek and several surrounding towns, including the Bednayel Plain, Adous, Taria, Shamshtar, and Nabi Sheet, as well as other towns in the Zahle and Western Bekaa districts in eastern Lebanon.
Since last Monday, the Israeli occupation army has launched the “fiercest and broadest” attack on Lebanon since confrontations with Hezbollah began about a year ago.
The Lebanese Minister of Health, Firas Abiad, told the CNN, that more than 40 health care workers were martyred in the Israeli attacks this week, pointing out that ambulances were subjected to direct targeting.
For his part, the Lebanese Foreign Ministry, Abdullah Bouhebib, stated in a speech before the United Nations General Assembly that the deteriorating situation in Lebanon signals a worsening crisis in the Middle East.
