Taiwan reveals European country accused of exporting Pagers to Lebanon

TAIPEI, Sept. 18 (YPA) – Taiwan’s company that owns the Gold Apollo brand has revealed the exploding pagers devices, which led to injuring thousands of people in Lebanon on Tuesday, were manufactured by a Hungarian company B.A.C that owns the rights to use its brand, the Politico reported on Wednesday.

The Taiwanese company said the company’s AR-924 pagers were manufactured by a Hungary-based distributor called BAC Consulting KFT.

A senior Taiwanese security official told Politico that Taiwan has no record of shipping Gold Apollo pagers to Lebanon or the Middle East.

In its turn, Budapest announced on Wednesday that the company “B.A.C”, which was presented as producing the communication devices used by Hezbollah and which was exploded in Lebanon, is a “commercial intermediary with no production site or operations in Hungary.

Hungary Government spokesman Zoltán Kovács confirmed in a post on X platform that “the relevant agencies have never been on Hungarian territory,” noting that “this issue does not pose any threat to national security.”
