Hadramout Tribe Sheikhs arrive in Aden to seek release of Sami Bawazir from STC custody

ADEN, Sept. 13 (YPA) – A number of sheikhs from Hadramout governorate in eastern Yemen arrived in Aden to demand the release their son who has been kidnapped by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s factions since last August in Aden.

Sheikhs and dignitaries from the Bawazir tribe in Hadramout confirmed upon their arrival in Aden yesterday, Thursday, to follow up on their kidnapped son Sami Omar Salem Bawazir, who was arrested unjustly and aggressively due to baseless allegations.

The statement was issued by the tribal delegation, led by Hassan Abdul-Samad Bawazir, Sheikh of Al-Mashqas, and head of the Wadi and Desert Referendum Council in the coastal region of Hadramout, emphasized the need to release the kidnapped Bawazir from the Transitional Council’s prisons.

The statement also called on Hadramout tribes’ sheikhs to stand united in their cause until the injustice against their imprisoned son is rectified and he is released.

Sami Bawazir was detained by the Security Belt forces, who are from Yafa, because of his posts in a WhatsApp group from last month.

In these posts, he revealed that Naif Al-Qahbi Al-Yafa’i, who had been forcibly disappeared, had died while being held in one of the “Anti-Terrorism” prisons, and that the authorities in Aden were aware of this.

In his posts, Bawazir called on Yafae’s leaders within the STC to avoid using the case of the kidnapped Ali Ashal Al-Jaadani for their advantage unless they also demanded the body of Al-Qahbi.

This stance led to his arrest on accusations of being involved in the kidnapping of Al-Qahbi. Bawazir’s close association with Shalal Shayea, the commander of  “Anti-Terrorism Forces” in Aden, also played a role in his detention.
