Death toll from Israeli strikes on Gaza-based civil defense crews mounts

GAZA, Sept. 08 (YPA) – A number of members of Gaza-based civil defense crews killed as a result of the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip, has risen to 83, since October 7, 2023.

The death toll came after the announcement of the martyrdom of the Deputy Director of Civil Defense in northern Gaza on Sunday.

Spokesman for the Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip, Mahmoud Basal, announced on Sunday, during a news statement, that about 83 members of their crews have been killed since.

“There is a severe shortage of food and basic needs in the Strip, the statement said, indicating that the occupation is focusing its targeting on the southern Gaza Strip, which it claims are “safe areas”.

Earlier in the day, medical sources announced the martyrdom of the Deputy Director of Civil Defense in northern Gaza, Colonel Mohamed Morsi, and members of his family, in an Israeli bombing of his home in the Al-Alami area of the Jabalia camp in the northern Strip.

The sources indicated that the martyrs are: Colonel Mohamed Morsi, Hajja Umm Mohamed Morsi, Munir Mohamed Morsi, Hossam Mohamed Morsi, and Bahaa Ahmed Morsi, and a number of other family members were injured.

The Civil Defense in a statement mourned Colonel Morsi snd his family, adding that he has worked in the Civil Defense and in the service of his people and his country since 1995.
