Sanaa describes Saudi authorities’ measures against Yemenia as unfriendly act

SANAA, Sept. 05 (YPA) – An official the Sanaa-based Ministry of Foreign Affairs described on Thursday the Riyadh authorities’ measures against Yemenia Airlines plane during its flight to Jordan as an unfriendly act.

The official said in a statement that government of the Republic of Yemen considered this Saudi measure an attempt to drag it into an irresponsible and unjustified escalation that serves the Zionist enemy, which seeks to fuel conflict in the region to divert attention from the brutal crimes the Israeli occupation’s committing against the Palestinian people.

“We are waiting for the authority responsible for returning the Yemenia Airlines plane to clarify and apologize, the official added.

He affirmed that Saudi authorities’ measures also violates the United Nations-sponsored agreement reached in this regard.

Earlier, director of Sanaa airport, Khaled Al-Shaif, had revealed that Saudi Arabia had prevented Yemenia Airlines from crossing its airspace and forced it to return.

“There is no justification for preventing the plane from crossing Saudi airspace,” Al-Shaif stressed. “This indicates that the Saudi regime is still besieging air travel.”

He noted that the Saudi regime’s actions “are in violation of the recent agreement announced by the United Nations, which allows flights to Jordan and other countries, with technical coordination and not requesting permission or maintaining guardianship.
