Yemen allows European countries to withdraw burning oil ship “Sounion”

SANAA, Aug. 29 (YPA) – The head of the Sanaa negotiating delegation, Muhammad Abdusalam, said on Wednesday that “after several international parties contacted us, especially the European ones, they were allowed to tow the burning oil ship Sounion.”

Abdusalam added: “The burning of the aforementioned oil ship is an example of Yemen’s seriousness in targeting any ship that violates the Yemeni embargo decision prohibiting the passage of any ship into the ports of occupied Palestine with the aim of exerting pressure on the Zionist enemy entity to stop its aggression against Gaza.”

He stressed that all shipping companies linked to the Zionist enemy entity should realize that their ships would remain vulnerable to Yemeni strikes wherever they may be reached by the Yemeni armed forces until the aggression stops and the siege on Gaza is lifted.

Abdusalam confirmed in a statement to Reuters that there is no temporary truce, and the Yemeni armed forces will only allow the burning oil tanker “Sounion” to be towed in the Red Sea.

Reuters revealed today that several countries had contacted the leadership of Sanaa and requested permission for boats and rescue ships to access the burning tanker “Sounion” in the Red Sea due to humanitarian and environmental concerns.

The Pentagon said, according to Reuters: “A few days ago, a third party tried to send two tugs to the ship Sounion, but they received a threat to attack them.” After that, several countries contacted Sanaa and requested permission to reach the burning tanker.
