US police in Chicago disperse two-day demonstration supporting Gaza

WASHINGTON, Aug. 21 (YPA) – The US police forces intervened harshly to disperse a two-day demonstration in support of the Gaza Strip in front of the Israeli consulate in Chicago city.

In protests, the participants called on the US administration to stop its support for the entity and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The police forces clashed with some of the protesters, using beatings and dragging, and arresting some protesters and 3 journalists.

Scenes of police violence against the protesters sparked angry reactions on social media.

The demonstrations coincided with the launch of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago last Monday, as the 2024 conference program highlighted the central role of the entity in US foreign policy under the administration of President Joe Biden.
