Journalist Majli Al-Samadi arrested in Taiz due to his support for Tariq Affash

TAIZ, Aug. 21 (YPA) – The journalist Majli Al-Samadi was arrested by security forces affiliated with the Islah Party in Taiz city due to his support for Tariq Affash and his suspicious activities in Taiz province, activists and media reported on Tuesday.

Media sources indicated that Al-Samadi has been detained since Sunday morning and is being held in a prison run by the security forces affiliated with the Saudi-led coalition in the province.

The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate condemned Al-Samadi’s arrest and called for his immediate release.

Al-Samadi, who returned from Cairo to Taiz, had announced his intention to launch his own radio station, “Voice of Yemen,” from Taiz after it was shut down in Sanaa.
