WORLD, Aug. 23 (YPA) – Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp has announced his resignation, citing frustration over being unable to implement additional measures against Israel due to opposition from other cabinet members.
“I see that I am insufficiently able to take meaningful additional measures to increase pressure on Israel,” Veldkamp said in a brief statement after a cabinet debate on possible sanctions against “Israel” was deadlocked.
According to Dutch media reports, the minister stepped down after failing to persuade the Cabinet to adopt stricter measures against “Israel.”
The resignation comes less than a month after the Dutch government declared far-right Israeli ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich persona non grata over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
