8 illegal immigrants found dead inside truck in Libya

SANAA, July 17 (YPA) – At least eight illegal immigrants out of 100 were dead as a result of suffocation inside a large truck east of Zowara district, the Security Directorate announced in western Libya on Tuesday.

The security forces seized a truck, used to transport fish and meat, carrying about 100 illegal immigrants.

Six children, one man, and one woman were found suffocated due to inhaling fuel inside the fish freezer container, while 90 others were rescued relocated to a site belonging to the Directorate, where they were provided with urgent food and drinking water, the directorate said.

These immigrants are from Arab, African, Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationalities, the directorate added.
