15 people died, missing due to floods in Maqbanah district of Taiz

TAIZ, Aug. 07 (YPA) – The heavy rains that fell on Maqbana district in Taiz province during the past hours caused the death and loss of 15 people and swept away agricultural lands, roads, and property.

According to a report by the district’s local council, 120 families had their homes damaged, and the number of those killed or missing as a result of the floods reached 15, while the floods buried 87 hand wells, damaged two artesian wells, and swept away 50 water pumps and six solar energy systems designated for the agricultural sector.

The report indicated that the floods led to the damage of six water projects, 12 commercial stores, and a mosque; the sweeping away of 25 cars and 32 motorcycles; the death of 65 heads of livestock; and the loss of more than 500 meters of pipes belonging to the Rural Water Projects Authority branch.
