Meteorology issues warnings to citizens residing in Yemeni coast

SANAA, July 22 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology warned seafarers, fishermen, and ship captains of sea turbulence and high waves around the Socotra Archipelago, the eastern Gulf of Aden, and the eastern and southern coasts.

in its weather forecast, the center also renwed its warnings to citizens against being in the depths of valleys and flood paths, and against rains in the mountain highlands where rain be expected.

It called on motorists to drive carefully in the mountainous roads as a result of decreased horizontal visibility, rain, and fog.

The center expected rains of varying intensity, accompanied by hailstones, may prevail over parts of the provinces of Saada, Mahweet, Amran, Sanaa, Rayma, Dhamar, Ibb, Dhalea, and the heights of Lahj, Abyan, and Shabwa, in addition to Mahra, Hadramout, Bayda, Taiz, Hajjah.

It stated that very strong winds would hit the Socotra Archipelago, reaching a maximum speed of 50 knots, and moderate to strong winds on the eastern and southern coasts, ranging in speed between 20-30 knots.
