Demonstrators break UAE armored barriers in “Ashal demonstration” in central Aden

ADEN, July 16 (YPA) – Angry demonstrators broke the military barriers imposed by factions of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the city of Aden, southern Yemen, chanting slogans, “With blood, we will redeem you, Ashal.”

The angry protesters denounced the continued kidnapping and disappearance of Lieutenant Colonel Ali Ashal Al-Jaadani for the second month in a row, demanding the release of all those kidnapped and forcibly disappeared from the STC prisons run by Emirati officers in Aden.

Despite the fact that the parade square in the Khor Maksar area was cordoned off with dozens of military vehicles since last night, Monday, the participants in the “Ashal” demonstration were able to pass the security barriers amid a large crowd since the early hours of the day.

Hundreds of members of the southern tribes who announced their participation in the Ashal demonstration arrived after the kidnapping of a number of event organizers, including Salah al-Saadi, the “brother-in-law” of Ali Ashal, while preparing the demonstration stage, and approximately four others to an unknown destination.

The STC factions are trying to thwart the demonstration demanding to reveal the fate of the kidnapped Ashal since mid-June, amid accusations against a number of leaders loyal to the UAE.
