UNRWA: Gaza residents have lost all means of life

GAZA, June 30 (YPA) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated that the residents of Gaza “have lost all means of life,” calling for the opening of crossings and the entry of sufficient food aid into the territory.

The agency added that ” the people thin Gaza need everything. These are very desperate times. The only answer to that is to provide more aid.”

“Trash is piling up everywhere, people are living under plastic sheeting where temperatures soar,” UNRWA also added in a post its X account

“Families in Gaza live next to mountains of garbage and sewage. With very few bathrooms available and unbearable summer heat, the sanitary conditions are desperate.”

Earlier, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini described the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, which has been under unprecedented Israeli aggression for about 9 months, as “almost hopeless,” emphasizing the need to “address the famine and confront the deteriorating situation in the southern Gaza Strip.”

The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 7, 2023 has claimed the lives of 37,834 Palestinians, predominantly children and women, and left 86,858 others injured.

Thousands more remain trapped either under rubble or on the streets, as Israeli forces obstruct the access of rescue teams and civil defense crews to reach them.
