Rainfall expected to hit several Yemeni provinces

SANAA, June 28 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning, forecasted on Friday showers of varying intensity, sometimes accompanied by hail in different parts of the governorates of Taiz, Ibb, Dhalea, Dhamar, Rima, Hajjah, Mahweet, Saada, and Amran.

The Center expected scattered rain to fall in parts of the governorates of Sanaa, Dhalea, Bayda, Shabwa, Hadramout, Mahra, and the highlands of Lahij and Abyan, as well as areas in the Tihama Plain.

According to the center, the temperatures may be extremely high in desert areas, with maximum temperatures ranging between 39 to 44 degrees Celsius, and very hot in plains and coastal areas with temperatures ranging from 36 to 40 degrees Celsius.

Active winds are expected along the eastern and southern coasts, with strong winds around Socotra Archipelago reaching speeds of up to 40 knots, the center added.

The center warned against the hot and very hot weather in the deserts and coastal plains, and advised against direct exposure to sunlight.

It also warned fishermen and seafarers of the disturbance of the sea and the rise of waves around Socotra Archipelago, southern and eastern coasts.

It advised against being in the valleys and flood paths and taking shelter from thunderstorms in areas expected to receive rain.
