Griffiths warns against spread of Israeli war on Gaza to other countries

WORLD, June 27 (YPA) – UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths warned of the escalation of war with Lebanon.

This came during his meeting with United Nations journalists in Geneva on Wednesday.

The “Al-Mayadeen” website quoted Griffiths as saying: “The situation is very dangerous, and the war would be catastrophic if it spreads,”

He confirmed that it “will not stop at the borders of Lebanon but may include Syria and other countries, with a significant impact on Gaza and the West Bank.”

In the same context, Griffiths said that the situation at the borders with Lebanon is the focus of discussions at the Dead Sea Forum in Jordan, “especially regarding the extent of the implications of war expansion,”

He stressed the importance of serious political intentions to avert the specter of war.
