WORLD, June 25 (YPA) – The European Union Council has approved a 14th package of sanctions on Russia during a meeting in Luxembourg on Monday.
According to an EU statement, The European Union Council today agreed on the 14th package of sanctions against Russia.
” These measures target the energy, financial, and trade sectors, and do not duplicate existing EU sanctions,” the statement read.
The EU has imposed 13 packages of sanctions on Russia since February 2022.
1,725 individuals and 420 organizations are subject to EU restrictions, and it is prohibited for EU citizens and companies to deal with the Russian entities listed in the sanctions.
Individuals on the EU sanctions list are subject to travel restrictions, which prevent them from entering or transiting through the EU.
On the other hand, Russia has frozen billions of dollars worth of Western companies’ assets on its territory, and has placed hundreds of billions of dollars in foreign assets under government control, without yet seizing them.
Russia has also allowed foreign asset holders to sell their Russian assets to Russian entities at half their market value.
