WORLD, June 21 (YPA) – Police in the Norwegian capital of Oslo arrested eight pro-Palestinian demonstrators who had closed the entrance to the Parliament building in the city, locked themselves with chains.
“We are near the Parliament building due to a demonstration in support of Palestine. There are approximately 40 demonstrators here. Some of them have closed the main entrance… and chained themselves. In total, 8 people have been detained,” the police wrote on “X” platform .
They further stated that security personnel urged the demonstrators to leave the premises, but 10 of them refused to comply.
Meanwhile, the Norwegian broadcasting company NRK reported that the demonstration involved activists from “Action Group for Palestine,” which advocates for peace and justice in Palestine.
Norway, Spain, and Ireland official recognized the state of Palestine at the end of May last year.
Additionally, in early June, the Slovenian Parliament adopted a resolution to recognize the Palestinian state as well.
