WORLD, June 05 (YPA) – The Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement officially recognizing Palestine as an independent and sovereign state.
In a statement on the “X” platform, the Slovenian Foreign Ministry said, “On June 4, 2024, Slovenia officially recognized Palestine as an independent and sovereign state.”
In a speech addressed to the Palestinian people, Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon affirmed that this recognition is an expression of our dedication to peace and justice.
She added, “We believe that only a two-state solution can lead to lasting peace in the Middle East.”
It is noteworthy that 52 out of 90 members of the parliament voted in favor of the recognition decision.
Spain and Ireland, members of the European Union, along with Norway, have also officially recognized Palestinian in state, aiming to advance towards peace in the Middle East, according to the three countries.
This move has angered Tel Aviv.
