Dutch police move to end pro-Palestinian protest at Amsterdam university

SANAA, May 13 (YPA) – The Dutch police moved to end a pro-Palestinian protest at the University of Amsterdam on Monday, after demonstrators occupied university buildings in various Dutch cities to denounce the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, Dutch News Agency ANP reported.

The students can be heard in video clips broadcast by local media chanting to the police, “We are peaceful, what about you?” And “Shame on you”.

Previously, a Dutch group organizing protests said in a statement that it had taken control of university buildings in the cities of Amsterdam, Groningen and Eindhoven.

A spokesman for the University of Amsterdam confirmed the occupation of its building and said that the university had asked people not participating in the protest to leave the building.
