Fires of angry protests return to Aden

ADEN, May 12 (YPA) – Angry popular protests broke out on Sunday evening against the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition and the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in various areas of the city of Aden in southern Yemen.

Angry protesters blocked the main streets in Al-Mansoura area with burning tires and stones to protest the collapse of electricity services and the rise in prices due to the deterioration of the local currency, after the dollar exchange reached 1,700 riyals.

The demonstrators chanted slogans demanding the departure of the coalition and its tools in reference to the “Presidential Leadership Council” and the STC from the city and all southern regions.

The participants in the angry demonstration denounced the increase in power outage hours to more than eight hours, considering the pro-coalition government’s presence to be “a disaster and a disgrace” to the people of Aden.

People in Sheikh Othman and Khor Maksar areas also took to the streets protesting against corruption, expressing discontent, and demanding the removal of corrupt officials.
