Higher military commission threatens escalation in Aden

ADEN, May 07 (YPA) – The “Supreme Military Authority of the Southern Army and Security” has vowed to renew the protests and continue to escalate them if the government does not implement its legitimate demands.

A meeting held by the “Commission” on Tuesday, dealt with a number of human rights issues related to members of the “Army and Southern Security,” which the government loyal to the coalition is delaying.

The demands of the so-called Military Authority lie in not disbursing salaries at the end of each month, and in arrears of salaries for 16 months from previous years, in addition to not implementing the settlement decisions issued judicially and presidentially during the era of former President (Hadi).

Likewise, not opening the door to promotions for thousands of deserving officers and promotion decisions for all non-commissioned officers and soldiers affiliated with the first and third military regions, according to the statement issued by the “Commission” meeting.

The Commission also called on all heads of its branches and members to prepare to reactivate the protest stops and escalate them if the government continues to remain silent regarding its demands.
